About Us

  • Lisa Schurr

    COFOUNDER & CEO

Lisa was born and raised in Ohio and is a proud graduate of the public school system.  She received her undergraduate degree in accounting from the Ohio State University and then received the joint degrees of Master of Taxation and a law degree from the University of Akron.   She later completed the Master of Laws (LL.M) in Taxation program at the University of Florida.

After beginning her career in Chicago, she moved on to work in London and Brussels and then relocated to Moscow, Russia.  She spent twenty years working in Russia, Kazakhstan, and the Baltic states in international law and taxation, for two international firms and then as the Global Head of Tax/Managing Director for a Moscow-based investment bank. She has managed practices spanning Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.

Lisa returned to the US in 2011 with her daughter, who was about to enter first grade. She decided to settle in Sarasota, Florida due in no small part to the great public education offered in Sarasota County.  In 2021, she came together with the other co-founders of Support Our Schools (SOS) to advocate for masks in schools. They quickly discovered that there was much more going on in the public education sphere than opposition to masking and the group established SOS.  SOS became operational in January 0f 2022 and is now working to ensure that public education is not privatized by those that seek to dismantle the public education system.
